Terms of Service | BeeCrumbs

In short: be 18+, be honest, be kind to other students, your entries are yours, BeeCrumbs isn't a crisis service, and either of us can walk away if it's not working. The full terms below cover the detail.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating a BeeCrumbs account or using the BeeCrumbs app or website, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use BeeCrumbs. These Terms are a legal agreement between you and BeeCrumbs Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales ("BeeCrumbs", "we", "us").

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use BeeCrumbs. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We may ask you to verify your age and may suspend or close accounts we reasonably believe belong to someone under 18.

3. What BeeCrumbs is — and isn't

BeeCrumbs is a private voice-journaling app that helps you reflect on your own experiences and, if you choose, connect with other students whose experiences resonate with yours.

BeeCrumbs is not a medical device, a mental health service, or a crisis service. It's a preventative wellbeing and peer-knowledge tool that complements, but never replaces, professional support. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, please contact your university counselling service, your GP, 999 in an emergency, or a national helpline such as Samaritans (116 123).

Peer connections made through BeeCrumbs ("the Hive") are between students, based on self-reported, algorithmically-matched themes — they are not verified experts, counsellors, or medical professionals, and their advice is not a substitute for professional guidance.

4. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials and device secure, including using the Face ID/passcode lock feature.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
You're responsible for activity that happens under your account, unless it results from our fault or a security failure on our part.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app; see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data when you do.

5. Acceptable use

When using BeeCrumbs, you agree not to:

impersonate another person, or misrepresent your affiliation with any university;
harass, abuse, threaten, or discriminate against other users;
post or share unlawful content, including anything that infringes someone else's rights, is defamatory, or promotes self-harm to others;
attempt to identify, contact outside the app, stalk, or dox another user based on information shared through matching;
scrape, reverse-engineer, or use automated tools to access BeeCrumbs beyond normal use of the app;
use BeeCrumbs to provide professional medical, legal or financial advice to other users; or
use BeeCrumbs if you are under 18.

6. Your content

You own your voice entries and anything else you create in BeeCrumbs ("Your Content"). By using the app, you grant BeeCrumbs a limited licence to store, transcribe, encrypt, and analyse Your Content solely to provide and improve the service to you (for example, generating your mood/theme calendar or suggesting matches) — as described in our Privacy Policy. We will not sell Your Content or use it to train third-party advertising systems.

Your Content is private by default. It is only ever shared with another user, or made visible beyond you, if you actively choose to share it (for example, by starting a conversation with a match).

7. Matching and the "Hive"

Matching suggests other students whose self-reported entries share similar themes, situations or stages with yours. Matches are a starting point for conversation, not a guarantee of compatibility, safety, or expertise. You choose whether and how to engage with any match, and you can block or report a match at any time. BeeCrumbs is not responsible for the conduct, advice, or content shared by other users.

8. Subscriptions and payment

BeeCrumbs is free to download, with full access for your first 30 days. After that, a freemium model applies: core features remain free, with optional premium features available for a fee. Pricing, billing terms and cancellation details for premium features will be shown in the app before you're asked to pay, and a separate payment processor's terms will apply to any transaction. 9. Intellectual property

BeeCrumbs, our logo, the BeeCrumbs name and our app design are owned by BeeCrumbs Ltd. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of our intellectual property to you, except the limited right to use the app for its intended purpose. Your Content remains yours, as set out in Section 6.

10. Suspending or ending your access

You can stop using BeeCrumbs and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms, use BeeCrumbs unlawfully, or if we reasonably believe you're under 18 — we'll aim to tell you why, unless we're legally prevented from doing so or it would compromise safety.

11. Disclaimers

BeeCrumbs is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. As a pre-launch, early-stage product, features may change, and we can't guarantee the app will always be available, error-free, or achieve any particular outcome for you (such as improved wellbeing). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, BeeCrumbs' total liability to you arising out of or in connection with your use of the app is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or £100 if you haven't paid us anything), except where the law doesn't allow such a limit (for example, in relation to your statutory consumer rights).

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as BeeCrumbs develops. If we make material changes, we'll let you know via the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use BeeCrumbs after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have in the country where you live.
